Cath Brinkley
Cath is the lead counsellor and owner of Mountain Talk. Coming from a military family, Cath saw firsthand the challenges faced by returned veterans, primarily soldiers. This sparked a lifelong interest in veterans’ welfare, while her own experiences with anxiety has meant she has lived experience of the challenges anxiety can bring.
Cath’s path to becoming a counsellor included academia, volunteer firefighting, emergency management, the public service, event management, and publishing.
Starting in 2019, Cath studied a Graduate Certificate in Counselling from the Unversity of Canberra, and followed that with a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Torrens University in 2025. She will graduate from Torrens University in 2026 with a Masters of Counselling.
Specialising in anxiety and post traumatic stress Cath has a special interest in young people, veterans, emergency services personnel, and corrections staff. She works with clients across a wide range of ages and from all walks of life.
On the home front Cath is a busy mum of four active, challenging, spectacular, and adored children (now teenagers and adults) and is a self-confessed coffee addict. She is partial to cheese, chocolate, and cooking, and hasn’t met a craft she doesn’t like. Cath admits to being more of a cat person than a dog person and a city kid more than a country kid. She is also most definitely not a morning person!
