Program for Partners of Veterans and First Responders living with PTSD

Supported by the Blue Dog Foundation and SiSU Canberra

A psychoeducational and support‑focused program for partners navigating the impacts of PTSD on some one they love.

Program Overview

Supporting someone you love through PTSD can feel confusing, isolating, and exhausting. This program gives partners a clear, compassionate roadmap for understanding trauma and PTSD, navigating relationship strain, and protecting their own wellbeing and that of their family.

Across a series of practical, trauma‑informed sessions, you’ll learn how PTSD affects the nervous system, why certain behaviours appear at home, and how to communicate and set boundaries without escalating shame or conflict.

You’ll walk away with real‑world tools you can use immediately — grounding strategies, connection routines, communication scripts, and ways to support your partner without losing yourself in the process. Most importantly, you’ll join a community of people who get it, so you no longer have to carry this alone.

The three Saturday afternoon sessions will be hosted at SiSU Wellness Studio in Deakin, where mind-body practices are blended with psychological care to support whole-person healing. Sessions include light refreshments.

Participants with appropriate referrals may be able to claim for part of the cost of the sessions through Medicare.
