Friday things to think about . . .

Why do we use the acronym PTS instead of saying PTSD at Mountain Talk? Because we believe that post-traumatic stress, or PTS, is something that you feel in your body and your mind. We take the approach that it is an injury caused by your body and brain reacting to something that has happened to you, something abnormal, outside your experience.

You are not broken, you’re in protection and survival mode, not disordered. We will work with you to help you understand what is happening and why, and together we’ll walk you back from those feelings and bring you back to yourself and the people around you. We’ll show you the how – and we believe you can do it.

Check out the author of Body Keeps the Score, Bessel van der Kolk, on his work with veterans and PTS. Its long but a great exploration. Watch video here
